About Dentures and Partials:Complete Dentures Complete dentures are used to replace teeth when there are no teeth remaining. The teeth are prefabricated acrylic which comes in many sizes, shapes, and shades. They are processed into a custom made acrylic base which will be designed to comfortably fit the jaw. Because dentures are artificial, speaking, eating and how the dentures fit will need to settle and you will need to get used to using them. In time the dentures will become part of life. Denture adhesives are the solution to hold the dentures in place after a few weeks of getting settled with the new dentures, but not before. With practice dentures will help you get on with life. Partial Dentures Partial dentures are used to replace missing teeth and are held in place by the existing teeth. Partials help restore aesthetics and will assist in your daily activities. Eating will come easier with the replacements, but after practice. The partial will also help stabilize the existing teeth from drifting and will decrease the need to change the bite. Partial dentures are custom fabricated from the molds that will need to be taken of your jaw and teeth. Once created, the partials then need to be retrofitted to your jaw, and existing teeth to create the support that they need. Either type of procedure to replace missing teeth will need extensive dental examination and work to best fit your physiology. Consult with your dentist to receive further instructions and advice on what is best for you.
